Opening press-conference of “Worlds Savings Day” and month of “Financial Literacy” has been held in Azerbaijan.

On October 31, 2013 there was held opening press-conference of “Worlds Savings Day” and month of “Financial Literacy” has been held in Azerbaijan with an organizational support of Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Bank Association, SBFIC, Azerbaijan Deposit Insurance Fund and several commercial banks: Accessbank, AGbank, Bank of Baku, Bank of Republic, Demirbank, Pashabank, UniBank, Rabitebank, and Yapı Kredi Bank.

 

We would like to note that World Savings Day firstly was celebrated on October, 1924 at a congress that was held in Milan the city of Italia and where representatives of 29 countries participated. However, in our country “World Savings Day” was celebrated first time with the organizational support of CBAR, ADIF, SBFIC several commercial banks in 2012. Compared to the last year this year the event will cover the larger areas of the country.  That is to say, this year the whole November will be celebrated as the “Financial Literacy” month and during this month representatives of commercial banks will visit several schools all over the country and will hold a lot of meetings, competitions, and interesting events with children. Moreover, “The personal budget planner for pupils” booklets and leaflets providing the information about the financial sector, T-shirts and caps with the “WSD” symbols on it were distributed among the children of visited schools.

The purpose of holding “Financial Literacy” month in such a large scale is increasing the trust of the public to the banks trough financial knowledge. The target group of this year’s “WSD” will be the school children and younger families.

During the events the participants will be informed about the budget planning, loans, and other financial knowledge.

Finally, media were informed that the movie of “WSD” will e plaid in all ATM’s, TV channels and advertisement panels of commercial banks.
