World Savings Day which was held with the organizational support of Central Bank of Azerbaijan has come to an end.

November 30, 2012 Baku: Within the framework of “Financial Knowledge” there was held the “World Savings Day” in Azerbaijan for the first time in its history on October 31, 2012 with the support of  CBAR, SBFIC, ADIF and several commercial banks of Azerbaijan (Access Bank, UniBank, Dəmir Bank və Bank Respublika).

 “The purpose of the events that were held till November 8, 2012 was the development of financial knowledge among people” mentioned Natavan Mammadova the Deputy Director of Department for Development in her speech during the press-conference held on November 30, 2012 within the framework of announcing results of “World Savings Day”. Moreover, she added that “all events were based on schoolchildren as financial knowledge has to be formulated from early ages”.

There were organized different competitions, knowledgeable meetings for schoolchildren and a lot of promo products describing “World Savings Day” were distributed to them. Moreover, during these events the short scale videos informing people about this day were played in all ATMs of participant commercial banks. As the total the events were organized in more than 40 schools with the participation of more than 6000 schoolchildren.

The symbol of “World Savings Day” held in Azerbaijan was the squirrel in a super hero costume with the symbol of manat on his chest and slogan was “Grow Gathering”. Schoolchildren were allowed to choose the name for this squirrel within the framework of competition. The winners Tural Karimov from school in Baku and Elnur Abdalov from school in Sumqayit received certificates and different presents.

We want to inform you that, firstly “World Savings Day” was celebrated in Milan city of Italy during the International Congress of representatives of 29 countries in 1924. Hereafter, it was planned continuously celebrate “World Savings Day” in Azerbaijan.
